Aryeh Gonif is Mark Gunnery, Tansy & Tarweed is Brenna Sahatjian and Brittany Sahatjian. Mark plays guitar, percussion, drum machine and bass. Brenna plays guitar, percussion and cello. Brittany plays trumpet. Melissa Knowles plays clarinet on "When Our Day Comes."
Recorded in Portland at the Hideout, pumped with the power of raw food, and mixed in Bellingham at Gordonia, January, 2009.
Brenna would like to thank Brittany the Terrible for playing trumpet like a goddamn champ, Chase Czolgosz for being my animal companion, Aaron for all your support, the January residents of The Hideout for putting up with all the noise, EWTKB for the gear (not like you had a choice), Riotfolk for your distant company (especially Adhamh, Kate, and Ethan for the guest spots), Mark “the gun” Gunnery for being a freak phenomenon, and all you who listen.
Mark would like to thank Brittany for blowing that horn and being fabulous, Melissa for laying down that track, all 18 takes, thanks for the patience, Adhamh, Kate, and Ethan for being absurd with us, Rebibi Habibi for giving me all the right elements to stir up some magic with, and Brenna for being so intuitive and creative and fun to work with. We've been talking about making this album since we met four years ago, by the way. Thanks to all ya'll who listen to our songs and come to our shows and show us love. Thanks to everybody up in the resistance. And thanks to my families, biological and chosen, for love and support.
"Monogamy" is a rewrite of the Au Pairs song of the same name.
The words from "When Our Day Comes" are adapted from writings by Bobby Sands and Assata Shakur. The music is an adapted from Andy Statman's "Nigun."
"Blackwater" is a rewrite of Jeffrey Lewis' version of "Securicor" by Crass.
